About AMELIA DESMOND

Before joining this community, I was sceptical of what community is, and if it was for me. Having been hurt by previous communities, it just seemed easier to grow in my relationship with Jesus alone. However, through gentle promptings of the Lord, He extended the invitation to join this community through a mutual friend.

 

It was not immediate. And even after my first encounter with the community, it felt strange to feel warm, welcomed, and accepted because I have never received such hospitality before. What made it even sillier was my own questioning if this was what it meant and felt like to belong, for far too long I have been living with hurts and did not know what love is.

 

It was the gentleness, and sensitivity of the sisters that witnessed the love of Christ to me, and their desire, and conviction to grow in a deeper relationship with the Lord that made me want to be journeyed with in this community. Through my encounters in fellowship and weekly sessions, I have learnt to be brave, to be honoured, to love self and others, and to make known His love in ways I could not before.
